November/December 2024:
Action Items: Things you can do now
Determine your current data workflows, onboarding and offboarding processes, etc.
Have conversations about the “what and why” of this initiative with your Super, CFO, HR, DPP
Establish your “team”.
Determine any ‘pain points’ from the time someone gets hired to the time they get an account. For example, HR/finance staff might not fully enter a July 1 hire until the start of school, while a principal may want an email account in place earlier in order to begin communicating with the new staff member.
Status Updates:
Baseline Manifest - Finalized

ShieldID (NEW TOPIC) - Included in our Rapid Identity implementation
Identity Automation's ShieldID is a web application firewall feature within their "RapidIdentity" platform, designed to monitor and block malicious login attempts and suspicious network traffic, essentially acting as a security layer to protect user access by identifying and preventing unauthorized logins from specific locations or with suspicious behaviors; essentially safeguarding against brute-force attacks and other threats by controlling where users can log in from.
SafeID (NEW TOPIC) - Included in our Rapid Identity implementation
Identity Automation's SafeID, part of their RapidIdentity platform, is a feature that continuously monitors user credentials against a database of breached passwords to detect compromised accounts, allowing IT teams to proactively take action to prevent account takeovers and targeted attacks, particularly within the education sector; essentially acting as a system to identify and alert about potentially exposed user credentials before they are used maliciously.

NEW: K12 Connected User Experience System (CUES)
Impact Timeline
Full implementation will start in the 2025 school year, however our team is already hard at work to ensure a seamless implementation. There will be no impact on the start of the 2024-25 school year and no need to begin working on anything at the district or school level at this time. We understand the importance of clear communication and will keep all stakeholders informed throughout the process. As with most KETS projects, an advisory group has been created with representatives from each region who will be available for consultations and updates as we move forward.
Learn More About CUES
To learn more about CUES and how it will benefit your district, Identity Automation will present to various stakeholder groups who will be essential to the success of this project:
KYSTE Fall Conference: October 25, 2024 - (Intended Audience: EdTech Leaders)
(Potentially) KASBO Fall Conference: November 18 - 22 - (Intended Audience: Chief Finance Officers)
Campus Interchange Conference: December 5 - 6 - (Intended Audience: Director of Pupil Personnel)

Scope of Services
The CUES project will offer a range of identity management services to Kentucky school districts and will be the new KETS standard for both identity and directory services. Our products of focus for the CUES initiative are Munis, Infinite Campus, Azure (e.g., Microsoft ecosystem), Google domain (e.g., Google ecosystem), and Clever:
Baseline Services (State-funded shared service, no cost to districts): These include core functionalities such as user authentication, authorization, and account management, ensuring that every user has secure and seamless access to necessary resources.
The baseline products are Lifecycle Management (Identity Management), Authentication (SSO - One-Click Access, Workflow (Privileged Access Management), Studio, and Increased Threat Visibility with SafeID and ShieldID. Managed Support will include a Technical Account Manager as well as Dedicated Support Engineers.
Post Baseline Implementation:
Optional Services (District funded): Districts can opt for additional services like PhishID (Phishing Prevention Software) and Security Management (SIEM/SOAR solution that feeds in data from RapidIdentity, Google, Active Directory, and Azure to alert on security incidents defined in the solution).
A Strong Track Record of providing CUES for Learning Environments
Identity Automation has implemented multiple statewide solutions as well implementations in several large school districts across the United States: North Carolina Department of Education, Nevada Department of Education, Palm Beach County School District in Florida, Broward County, Dallas Public Schools, Chicago Public Schools, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
